AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Flagler College women's basketball team was picked to finish in fourth place according to the Peach Belt Conference's Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was released this morning by conference officials.
Flagler, which finished in a tie for fourth place with a 9-9 league record last year to go along with a 13-15 overall mark, tallied 69 points in the preseason poll. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own teams.
The Saints returned eight of its 14 players from last year, including three starters, for seventh-year head coach 
Mo Smith.
"Being picked fourth in our league is good and we appreciate it," said Smith. "We all know you still have to play the games and every game is a tough one in our league. We are excited to continue working had and striving to improve each day."   
The University of North Georgia was the prohibitive favorite receiving nine of the 11 first place votes. Columbus State University and Augusta University followed as each received a first-place vote. Following Flagler in fifth place was Lander University. Georgia Southwestern State University as picked sixth while Clayton State University was predicted to finish seventh. The last four spots went to USC Beaufort, Georgia College & State University, USC Aiken, and Middle Georgia State University.
Flagler opens the season on Nov. 14 as it hosts Anderson University in the Southeast Region Crossover at Flagler Gym at 1 p.m.
