ST. AUGUSTINE –
Henriette Stranda of the women's golf team as well as
Madison Daziel,
Molly Sloan,
Carly LaFerriere,
Greta McGinnis, and
Eva Stine of the women's lacrosse team were selected to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic At-Large All-District® team, according to a release Tuesday.
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a scale of 4.00, and have played in at least 90 percent, or started 66 percent, of the team's games, for lacrosse, at the position listed on the nomination form. Golfers had to compete in at least 70 percent of the team's total events that were team scoring events.
Stranda, a sophomore on the women's golf team, is a business administration and psychology major and holds a 3.90 cumulative grade point average (GPA). The Kråkstad, Norway native averaged 72.97 strokes per round and had eight top 10 finishes, including six top-fives. Stranda earned Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-America and WGCA All-South Region honors. She was a first team All-Peach Belt Conference selection and earned academic all-conference honors. Stranda finished the year ranked No. 14 by Scoreboard. She helped the Saints win their sixth PBC title and helped lead the team to a first-place finish in the stroke play portion of the NCAA Division II National Tournament, the program's first appearance in that tournament.
Daziel, a senior attacker who graduated in May, was a psychology major who finished with a 3.97 GPA. The Derry, New Hampshire native scored 12 goals and tallied 11 assists in 19 games. She scored two goals and tallied three assists vs. Shorter University (March 24). Daziel earned Gulf South Conference Honor Roll accolades.
Sloan, a sophomore midfielder/defender, is an accounting and computer information systems major and a marketing, who holds a 3.88 GPA. The West Friendship, Maryland native was one of six players to start all 20 games this past season. She finished the season with 19 ground balls, 16 draw controls, and had 19 caused turnovers. Sloan earned Gulf South Conference Honor Roll accolades as well as being named to the conference's all-academic team.
LaFerriere, a junior midfielder, is an economics major and is minoring in law. She has a 3.55 GPA. The Lowell, Massachusetts native scored 31 goals and tallied seven assists. She won a team-high 94 draw controls and collected 16 ground balls. LaFerriere scored five goals and had one assist vs. Frostburg State University (March 19). She earned Gulf South Conference Honor Roll accolades as well as being selected to the conference's all-academic team. This is LaFerriere's second academic all-district honor.
McGinnis, a sophomore attacker, is an accounting major and a law minor. She has a 3.76 GPA. The Phoenix, Arizona native won 36 draw controls in 19 games played. McGinnis won 10 draw controls vs. Frostburg State (March 19). She earned Gulf South Conference Honor Roll accolades.
Stine, a junior psychology major with a health science minor, has a 3.92 GPA. The Mount Vernon, New Hampshire native played in all 20 games and collected 17 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers. Stine earned Gulf South Conference Honor Roll accolades. This is her second academic all-district honor.
All four are now eligible for CSC Academic All-America® honors.
