Stella Jelinek hits onto the 18 green at marsh creek

No. 13 Saints tie season-best round and is in seventh place at Buccaneer Invite

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The No. 13 (Golfstat Division II relative ranking) Flagler College women's golf team is in seventh place after 36 holes at the Buccaneer Invitational. The Saints shot a 40-over par 608 (320-288) today at the Miami Shores Country Club (par 71; 6,001 yards). The final round is tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. with a shotgun start.

Flagler's second round 4-over 288 tied the team's best round this season. The Saints last shot a 288 at the Golfweek D2 Fall Invitational final round on Oct. 4 at Destin, Florida.

Stella Jelinek is in fourth place with a 1-over 143 (75-68). Her second-round tally is a season-best and allowed her to jump up 12 spots on the leaderboard. She had seven birdies and 22 pars today. Five of those birdies, and 11 pars, came in the second round.  

No. 3 Nova Southeastern University leads the 12-team field with a 2-over 570 (297-293). The Sharks have a comfortable 25-stroke lead over No. 12 University of Indianapolis (595). No. 22 Barry University is in third place with a 36-over 604. No. 10 University of Tampa follows in fourth place with a 37-over 605. Top-ranked Lynn University and No. 28b Eckerd College are tied for fifth place with a 39-over 607.

A pair of Nova Southeastern players lead the 68-woman field. Ellen Andersson carded a 6-under 136 (70-66) while teammate Olivia Gronborg follows with a 4-under 138 (71-67). Amelie Alcantara of Eckerd is in third place as she shot a 2-under 140.

Jordyn Hodgson had a strong second round (1-under 70) that catapulted her up 30 spots on the leaderboard. She is in a tie for 20th place with a 10-over 152 (82-70). Sophie Wheeler is tied for 29th place with a 13-over 155 (81-74). Fernanda Lacaz carded an 18-over 160 (82-78) and is tied for 50th place while Marietta Ruhl is a stroke behind (19-over 161) is tied for 55th place.
