No. 23 Saints in a tie for 10th place after opening round of the World Golf Invite

ST. AUGUSTINE – The 23rd-ranked (Golfstat Division II relative ranking) Flagler College women's golf team is in a tie for 10th place after the first round of play of the 10th annual World Golf Invitational. The Saints shot a 26-over par 314 today at the World Golf Village's Slammer & Squire Course (par 72; 6,049 yards). The final round is tomorrow with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

No. 7 Nova Southeastern University leads the 21-team field with a 2-over 290. They hold a five-stroke lead over No. 10 Rollins College. No. 21 Saint Leo University is in third place with an 8-over 296. No. 2 Limestone University is nine shots back from the lead and is in fourth place. No. 17 Tampa is in fifth place at 13-over.

Hanna Ahlander of Nova Southeastern leads the 111-woman field with a 2-under 70. The only other golfer to break par on the cool and breezy day was Ebba Hellman of Limestone. She finished with a 1-under 71. There is a five-way tie for third place at even par.

Jan Browne led the Saints with a 3-over 75 and is in a tie for 17th place. She parred the first four holes and finished the front side at 2-over. On the back, Browne went par, birdie, birdie, par, par and wound up 1-over.

Marietta Ruhl, one of three Flagler individuals, shot a 4-over 76 and is in a tie for 25th place. Sophie Wheeler, Anna Asphamn, and Sloane Siebert are tied for 48th place with a 7-over 79. Vivien Roesner (+9), Fernanda Lacaz (+9), and Kylie Turner (+22) round out the Flagler golfers.
