ST. AUGUSTINE –
Stella Jelinek shot an even par 72 in the first round of the 19
th annual Flagler Fall Slam Monday afternoon at the Marsh Creek Country Club (par 72; 6,062 yards). No. 23 (Golfstat Relative Ranking) Flagler is tied for first place, with No. 7 Nova Southeastern University, with a 15-over 303. The final round is tomorrow at 8 a.m.
The Leimen, Germany native got off to a great start. After sinking a par putt on the first hole, she went on to birdie the next three holes. She closed out the front nine with an even par 36. Jelinek followed a bogey on 11 with a birdie on 12. She parred the next four holes before a bogey on 17 and then a birdie on 18. Her five birdies are tied for the most in the one round.
No. 1 (NJCAA) Daytona State College and Wingate University are tied for third, in the 18-team field, with an 18-over 306.
Trailing Jelinek on the player leaderboard are Amelie Alcantara of Eckerd College and Karla Lagerstrom of Limestone University by one stroke with a 1-over 73.
Sophie Wheeler is tied for sixth place with a 3-over 75.
Jordyn Hodgson and
Anna Asphamn are tied for 28
th place with a 6-over 78.
Marietta Ruhl carded an 8-over 80 and is tied for 43
rd place.
The Saints have a second team playing and they were led by
Jan Browne who is in a tie for 15
th place with 4-over 76, which was a season-best.
Fernanda Lacaz is tied with Ruhl at 43
rd place.
Sloane Siebert and
Kylie Turner each shot an 84 while
Vivien Roesner finished with an 87.
