AUGUSTA, Ga. – Flagler College's
Kim Jakobs,
Marietta Ruhl, and
Ella Stromfelt were named to the Peach Belt Conference's Women's Golf Team of Academic Distinction, released Tuesday afternoon by conference officials.
To be eligible for the academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and is either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution. The Peach Belt Conference sports information directors oversee and select the teams.
Jakobs, a sport management and psychology major, received her fourth academic all-conference honor. She led the team in scoring average at 75.65 strokes per round and had a team-best four top 10 finishes. The Leudelange, Luxembourg native finished third in the conference in strokes per round average and earned her second consecutive first-team all-conference selection. She finished in a tie for fourth place with a 5-over par 149 at the Savannah Lakes Invitational (Nov. 1-2). Jakobs was selected as the PBC Golfer of the Week on March 25. She finished the season ranked No. 47 in the nation by Golfstat. Jakobs is a three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll scholar and a two-time D2 ADA award recipient.
Ruhl is an international business major. She finished fourth on the team with a 78.08 strokes per round average. The Bad Kreuznach, Germany native received second-team all-conference accolades in the spring. She carded a 3-over par 147 at the Lady Bearcat Invitational (March 29-30).
Stromfelt, a business administration and marketing major, received her third academic all-conference honor. She averaged 79.15 strokes per round this season. The Stockholm, Sweden native earned PBC Golfer of the Week honors on Feb. 25. Stromfelt is a two-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar and a D2 ADA award recipient.
