Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 4 Flagler wins third straight in 5-nil win at GC

Saints have outscored opponents 14-0 over past three matches

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — When a match actually goes on as scheduled, the No. 4 Flagler College women's soccer team shows up and shows out. The Saints had to wait one extra day to face Georgia College and a full week after a match over the weekend was canceled, but it only fueled the fire more Monday as Flagler cruised to a 5-nil victory for their third straight Peach Belt Conference win on Bobcat Field.

"Today, we took the game to Georgia College from the first minute," Flagler head coach Ashley Martin said. "We saw goals come from numerous players again, and also another clean sheet, which is making us a formidable team. We know we have to recover quickly and be prepared for two more games this week, but we feel supremely confident in our depth to come out on top. UNCP will provide a tough test as always, so we will need to be sharp in all areas of our game to get the result we want."

Flagler (5-0-1, 4-0-1 PBC) has now outscored its opponents 14-0 over its three-match winning streak as four different players scored Monday. The Saints will carry the momentum to UNC Pembroke for a match Thursday at 1 p.m. followed by a regular-season ending match at Georgia Southwestern Friday at the same time.

Sarah-Lisa Dubel, the reigning PBC Player of the Week and Flagler's Academy Bus Athlete of the Week, combined with Madison North for the team's third clean sheet in a row and fourth of the season. Dubel had one save in 45 minutes, while North hauled in five to keep the Bobcats (2-6-0, 2-6-0) out of the net on their eight total shots.

Offensively, the Saints had 11 corner kicks to Georgia College's one, while 16 of their 28 shots were on goal. In the ninth minute, Sara Sandberg opened a four-goal first half of scoring for Flagler and added onto it in the 15th minute as Moa Arlebo found her fellow Swede twice to put the Saints ahead, 2-0. Just four minutes later, Hannah Dolores collected the rebound and sent it flying for the outside-the-box goal that found its way into the net just below the top crossbar.

It was Dolores' first goal of the season, and then Maddie Poole entered in the 35th minute and found paydirt just before half in the 43rd minute to score her first goal at Flagler on her lone shot on goal, via a cornerkick from Jess Leach. Sandberg led the Saints in shots with seven and four on goal, while Annie Habeeb had four, Maria Castorino Mujica had three and Dolores, Chloe Byrne and Liz Hall had two apiece.

Of Hall's shots, both were on goal as one found the back of the net for the first time this season, and for Flagler's fifth and final goal, in the 74th minute. It landed on her foot on a double assist, beginning with Habeeb's corner and Sandberg's final flick towards the net.
