ST. AUGUSTINE –
Karlie Redfern recorded a match-high 12 kills to help lead Flagler College to a sweep (25-17, 25-20, 25-21) of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Redfern hit .292 as she had just five hitting errors on 24 swings.
Rebekah Machovec added 10 kills and hit a season-best .529 as she had one error on 17 swings for Flagler (13-6 overall, 3-2 PBC).
Rachel Machovec supplied eight kills and seven digs while
Kennedy Muff tied her season-high with eight kills and she tallied 35 assists. Muff tacked on nine digs and had three block assists.
Kayla Norelli collected 11 digs.
Jordan Taylor finished with five block assists.
The Saints hit .343 as they recorded 46 kills and had 11 errors on 102 swings.
Ashley Caesar led UNC Pembroke (11-14, 0-4) with 10 kills. Raven Oates added nine kills and 10 digs. Casey O'Quinn recorded a double-double with 14 assists and 11 digs.
Muff led the Saints in the first set with four kills, a 1.000 hitting percentage, and five digs. Shannon Skyrd led the Braves with five kills and hit .500. UNCP was held to a .100 hitting percentage.
A
Rebekah Machovec kill ignited a 9-3 run that wiped out a 17-16 deficit and led Flagler to the win in set two. Redfern had five of Flagler's 15 kills in the set.
In the third set, the Braves scrapped their way from being down 23-15 by going on a 5-0 run. A
Victoria Bowrosen kill gave Flagler match point, but Caesar extended UNCP's stay for another match point. Skyrd ended the match with a hitting error.
Flagler welcomes back its alumni volleyball players for tomorrow's match against Francis Marion University at 2 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
