PEMBROKE, N.C. – Nigel Grant led four players in double figures with a game-high 21 points to help lead the University of North Carolina Pembroke to a 78-67 victory over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Lumbee Bank Court.
UNC Pembroke improved to 23-5 overall and 19-3 in the Peach Belt. The Braves are PBC co-champions, but will be the No. 2 seed in next week's tournament. Flagler wraps up its season with a 9-17 overall record and a 6-16 mark in conference play.
After a pair of
Damerit Brown free throws gave Flagler a 13-12 lead with 13:29 to go in the first half, UNC Pembroke went on a 15-3 run over the next 4:31 to take control of the game. James Murray-Boyles accounted for seven of those points alone for the Braves.
Grant was nearly perfect from the field as he made 9-of-11, including a pair of 3-pointers. Murray-Boyles came off the bench to pour in 20 points and grab nine rebounds. Brandon Watts finished with 13 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Akia Pruitt added 10 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Micah Kinsey tallied a game-high seven assists.
Brown led the Saints with 19 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Cortlin Davis finished with 11 points and five rebounds while
Vaughn McCall contributed 10 points.
