GREENWOOD, S.C. – Flagler College's
Karlie Redfern had a match-high 21 kills and she tied her career record with 20 kills, but Lander University came away with a 3-1 (31-33, 25-21, 26-24, 25-17) win in a Peach Belt Conference match Saturday afternoon at the Finis Horne Arena.
Lander snapped its two-match losing streak and improved to 20-6 overall and 6-4 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 10-14 overall and 4-6 in conference play.
Redfern nearly had the double-double in the first set. She recorded nine kills and had 10 digs in Flagler's 33-31 win in that first set. It was the most points scored in a set by a Saints team since tallying 34 in the first set against Rollins College (Sept. 21, 2013). Redfern hit .421 in the set with only one error on 19 swings.
Raquel Kulak added 19 kills and three total blocks for the Saints.
Tara Savisky just fell short of a double as she tallied 55 assists and collected nine digs. It was the third time this year she surpassed the 50-assist plateau in a match.
Kayla Norelli finished with a team-high 24 digs.
Logan Garcia contributed nine kills and three total blocks.
Maddie Erwin collected a career-high 22 digs.
Kaitlyn Krafka led the Bearcats with 20 kills and 11 digs. Kyra Ross added 15 kills, 16 digs, and four total blocks. Reilly Kuenstler and Hannah Hritz each added 11 kills. Hannah McManus collected 25 digs while Madilyn Reed finished with a double-double (55 assists and 13 digs).
Flagler closes out the regular season at home next weekend, starting with Francis Marion University on Friday (Nov. 2) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
