AUGUSTA, Ga. – Tamyrik Fields scored a game-high 33 points to lead Augusta University to a 77-72 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Cristenberry Fieldhouse.
Augusta won its fourth game in a row and improved to 12-8 overall and 9-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler dropped to 7-11 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
Fields was sizzling from the field making 15-of-20. His jumper with 44 seconds left gave Augusta a 74-70 lead.
Tyvez Monroe added 16 points for the Jaguars while Deane Williams chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds and two blocked shots.
Augusta shot 54.2 percent from the field in the second half and made 80 percent (16-20) of its free throws in the game.
Austin Howard scored 11 of his season-high 16 points in the first half. He was 6-for-7 from the field and tied his career-high with four 3-pointers.
Vaughn McCall added 16 points while
Chris Williams contributed 14 points and seven rebounds.
Damerit Brown chipped in with 13 points and seven rebounds.
Flagler tied its season-high in 3-pointers made with 11.
The Saints held a 12-point lead (30-18) after a Brown 3-pointer with 7:05 left in the first half. The Jaguars closed the first half on a 21-6 run to take a 39-36 lead into the locker rooms.
Flagler hosts Lander University on Saturday (Feb. 3) at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
