Flagler rallies past Georgia Southwestern

AMERICUS, Ga. – With just two minutes remaining in regulation, Flagler College's Juan Membreno was fouled in the penalty box and Rostand Ndong knocked in the ensuing penalty kick to complete the rally in a 3-2 victory over Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Hurricane Field.

Flagler snapped a five-match losing streak and improved to 2-5-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the Peach Belt. The Saints also won its 10th consecutive match against the Hurricanes. Georgia Southwestern was handed its fourth consecutive loss and fell to 3-4-1 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.

Flagler's Graham Grassmyer scored the equalizer in the 79th minute when he tapped in his own shot that was mishandled by the keeper.

Silvio Polly gave Georgia Southwestern a 2-1 lead when he stopped at the top of the 18-yard box, pivoted, and then rifled a shot into the top right corner of the goal, just grazing the underside of the crossbar in the 67th minute.

Oscar Davidsson got the Saints on the board in the 59th minute when he was in the right place at the right time. He knocked in Kyle Doherty's blast, which was saved by Hurricane keeper Joshua Swift, but the ball was not secured and Davidsson tapped the ball into the back of the net.

Divin Moke put the Hurricanes ahead with his goal in the 37th minute.

Iwan Roberts recorded six saves for the Saints while Swift tallied five saves for the Hurricanes.
