TAMPA – Cortlin Davis led Flagler College with 19 points, seven rebounds, six assists and five steals in a 94-66 exhibition loss at the University of South Florida Friday night at the Sun Dome.
Vaughn McCall added 16 points and sank four 3-pointers while Arnas Dautartas tacked on 11 points.
USF, members of the American Athletic Conference, was led by Penn State transfer Payton Banks who poured in 19 points. He sank six 3-pointers. Tulio Da Silva added 18 points and seven rebounds while Penn State transfer Terrence Samuel chipped in with 12 points and he dished out seven assists. Stephan Jiggets finished with 12 points and five assists. Isaiah Manderson recorded a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Bulls made 10 treys and shot 43.5 percent from long range. USF shot 49.2 percent (32-65), overall. South Florida out-rebounded Flagler 54-35 and its depth proved to be tough as the Bulls out-scored the Saints 38-19.
The Saints forced 14 turnovers and cashed them in for 14 points.
Flagler opens the 2017-18 season on Nov. 14 against Shorter University at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
