COLUMBUS, Ga. – Riley Clark provided all of the offense No. 10 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Poll) Columbus State University would need in a 3-0 win over No. 19 Flagler College in a NCAA Division II National Tournament second round match Sunday afternoon at the Walden Soccer Complex.
Columbus State improved to 16-3-0 overall and will advance to the third round where it will take on top-seed Carson-Newman University. Flagler ended its season with a 16-3-2 overall record. The 16 wins is a program record.
Clark's goal came in the 14
th minute when she headed in a cross from Kimmy May.
In the 59
th minute, the Lady Cougars got an insurance goal from Brooke Nail. She headed in Tehgan Anguilm's corner kick to give Columbus State a 2-0 lead.
Just a couple of minutes later (62'), Olivia Jarrell tacked on a goal as she knocked in her own rebound.
Bria Rancho recorded the shutout and tallied five saves.
Sarah-Lisa Dubel racked up 11 saves. She had the third-most saves by a Saints goalkeeper in the Division II era. Her 15 wins is a new record and her eight shutouts tied for the most since Flagler joined D2.
Columbus State out-shot Flagler 24-8 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Today was the final collegiate match for seniors
