Fustagno nets two goals to help No. 5 Flagler to a 4-1 win

ST. AUGUSTINE – Fio Fustagno, the reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week, scored a pair of goals to help lead No. 5 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College to a 4-1 victory over the University of South Carolina Aiken in a PBC women's soccer match Wednesday evening at Saints Field.

Flagler remains undefeated with a 9-0-1 overall record and a 4-0-1 mark in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken suffered its third straight loss and fell to 3-8-0 overall and 1-4-0 in conference play.

Fustagno is tied for the league lead with eight goals. Her tallies came in the 25th and 34th minutes, the latter of which gave the Saints a 3-0 lead which stood going into the half.

Maria Castorino-Mujica and Charlene Nowotny also added goals for the Saints. Nowotny is tied with Fustago for first in the conference in goals with eight and tied for first in assists with five. She assisted on Fustagno's second goal.

Gressa Olson broke up the shutout with her goal for the Pacers in the 58th minute. Tori Caldwell lofted a corner kick into the box, which got knocked around, and Olson.tapped in the bounding ball into the goal.

Sarah-Lisa Dubel and Maddison Lipson split the match in goal. Dubel did not face a shot on goal while Lipson tallied four saves. Karin Cadwalader and Katie Commins split time for the Pacers. Commins tallied two saves in 50-minutes and 54-seconds of action.

Flagler out-shot USC Aiken 11-7 and held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Up next for the Saints is Georgia College on Saturday (Oct. 7) at 2 p.m. at Saints Field.
