SAVANNAH, Ga. – Armstrong State University used a 15-2 run in the second half to defeat Flagler College 92-74 Wednesday night in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball regular season finale for both teams at Alumni Arena.
Armstrong State improved to 12-14 overall and 10-9 in the Peach Belt. The Pirates wrap up the No. 3 seed in the East Division and will travel to take on the No. 2 seed in the West Division. Flagler ends its season with an 8-20 overall record and a 3-16 mark in the conference.
Armstrong State held a 41-29 lead at the half, but Flagler remained close and trimmed the lead to seven (49-42) on a
Kessler Bell 3-pointer with 14:39 left to go in the game. Herbert Graham and Nicholas Scott hit back-to-back threes for the Pirates and that started the 15-2 run. Graham's 3-pointer with 11:15 left capped the run and gave Armstrong State a 64-44 lead.
Scott and Graham led the Pirates with 17 points each. Ethan Mackey tacked on 16 points. Shema Sabiiti grabbed eight rebounds while Jamison Jeffers tallied nine points and dished out nine assists.
Armstrong forced 17 Flagler turnovers and cashed those in for 23 points.
Flagler was led by
Jeffercy Jean and
Keith Gray who both scored 15 points. Gray added nine rebounds in his final game.
Matt Clark added 14 points to finish his career as the program's fifth leading scorer with 1,434 points. Clark is second all-time in 3-pointers made with 268 and is ninth in assists with 256.
Vaughn McCall chipped in with 11 points.
