EVANS, Ga. – For the second year in a row Lander University defeated Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Semifinal. This year it was a 3-0 victory on Friday afternoon at Blanchard Woods Park.
Lander, the top seed in the tournament and ranked No. 18 (NSCAA), won its 13
th match in a row to improve to 14-3-0 overall and advance to Sunday's championship match. The Bearcats defeated the Saints last year, 3-2. Flagler wrapped up its season with a 7-9-1 record.
Sinclaire Sandy got the Bearcats on the board first when he received a pass from Michael Leach into the box and he slotted the goal just inside the left post, just under the arm of Flagler goalkeeper
Lex Craggs, in the 27
th minute.
Hugo Delhommelle followed with the first of his two goals, in the 35
th minute.
Lander goalkeeper Dean Cowdroy did not have to exert too much effort as he faced five shots, but none were on goal.
Craggs, a first-team All-PBC selection, recorded seven saves for the Saints.
The Bearcats outshot the Saints 23-5 and held a 10-3 advantage in corner kicks.
