MORROW, Ga. –
Henrique Salomao scored the golden-goal 2-minutes and 43-seconds into the first overtime to give Flagler College a 4-3 win over Clayton State University in the final match of the regular season at Laker Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Saints improved to 6-8-1 overall and 5-4-0 in the Peach Belt. The Lakers finished the season with a 4-13-0 overall record and a 2-7-0 mark in conference.
Salomao corralled a loose ball in front of the goal and blasted a shot into the back of the net.
The Lakers jumped on the Saints in the first half to take an 2-0 lead after Ryan King and Will Summerfield each scored.
The Saints answered with three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 advantage.
Juan Membreno opened the scoring for Flagler by scoring on a penalty kick in the 40
th minute. Membreno then assisted
Pedro Silva's equalizer on a bicycle kick in the 48
th minute and
Oscar Davidsson put the Saints in front with a goal in the 52
nd minute.
Iain Smith tied the game at three for Clayton State with less than four minutes to go in regulation.
The Saints took 14 shots and the Lakers rattled off 12 shots.
Lex Craggs made three saves for the Saints.
The Saints concluded their regular season on Saturday, but will begin play in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament on Tuesday (Nov. 1).
