GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Sara Davis led Flagler College with 13 kills and hit .417 in a 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-17) sweep of Lander University in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Saturday afternoon at Horne Arena.
Flagler takes the season series against Lander (2-0) and improved to 11-5 overall and 7-1 in the Peach Belt. Lander dropped its second match in a row and fell to 18-7 overall and 6-6 in conference play.
Tara Savisky notched her 10
th double-double of the season with 35 assists and 11 digs.
Taja Valmyr recorded her fourth double-double with 10 kills and a match-high 17 digs. Valmyr also had three service aces.
Megan Hooks chipped in with eight kills.
Kayla Norelli tacked on 16 digs and had two service aces.
Halle Dotson led Lander with 13 kills and hit .333. Katie Haake recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 14 digs.
The Saints never trailed in the first set and was led by Hooks' four kills.
The second set featured nine ties and five lead changes. Trailing 18-15, Hooks' kill sparked a 6-0 run by Flagler to wipe out the deficit and take a 21-18 lead. Savisky had two service aces in the run.
Genel Sturgeon put the set away with a kill to give Flagler a 25-21 win. Dotson had eight kills and hit .571 for Lander.
Flagler used a 10-2 run midway through the third set to put Lander away.
Up next for the Saints is a make-up of a match which was supposed to take place on Oct. 8. Flagler hosts Georgia College on Monday (Oct. 24) at 5 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
