Jaguars defeat Saints, 84-73

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Matt Clark led five Flagler College players in double-figures with 15 points but it wasn't enough in an 84-73 loss at Augusta University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Christenberry Fieldhouse.

Augusta improved to 10-7 overall and 6-4 in the Peach Belt. The Jaguars have won 7 of their last 9 games. Flagler fell to 6-12 overall and 2-8 in conference play. The Saints are 0-7 in road games this season.

Keshun Sherrill scored a game-high 27 points and he dished out five assists for the Jaguars. He made all 10 of his free throws.

Augusta shot 87.9% (29-33) from the free throw line in the game.

Keith Crump added 14 points and six assists while Tamyrik Fields tacked on 12 points for the Jaguars. Tommy Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds and Deane Williams chipped in with 11 points.

Vaughn McCall added 14 points for the Saints while Jeffercy Jean provided 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field. Keshaun Hamilton recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Keith Gray picked up his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

Flagler used its size inside to out-score Augusta 34-22 and the Saints out-rebounded the Jaguars 43-38 which included 21 offensive rebounds. The Saints scored 19 second chance points.

The Jaguars used a 10-2 run at the end of the first half to pull away and take a 40-29 lead into the half. The Saints cut the deficit to as few as seven points (50-43) early in the second half, but couldn't get any closer.

Flagler will take on No. 25 (NABC Division II Top 25) Columbus State University on Wednesday (Jan. 27) at Columbus, Georgia at 7:30 p.m.
