AUGUSTA, Ga. – Georgia Regents University Augusta used an 11-0 run early in the second half to pull away and defeat Flagler College 73-48 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the Christenberry Fieldhouse.
GRU Augusta extended its winning streak to seven games and improved to 19-5 overall and 11-4 in the Peach Belt's East Division. Flagler lost its second consecutive game and fell to 9-13 overall and 4-11 in conference play.
Devonte Thomas and Keshun Sherrill each tallied 15 points for the Jaguars. Thomas sank four 3-pointers. Henry McCarthy came off the bench to tack on 11 points on 5 of 9 shooting. Devon Wright-Nelson chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds and four steals.
The Jaguars shot a sizzling 56.3% (18-32) from the field in the second half which helped them out-score the Saints 45-24. GRU Augusta also forced 20 Flagler turnovers in the game and converted them into 17 points.
Jerrell Oxendine led the Saints with 15 points and added five assists and four rebounds.
Matt Clark came off the bench to tally 13 points and four steals.
Keshaun Hamilton grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.
The Saints trailed 28-24 at the half.
Flagler will hit the road again on Saturday (Feb. 14) when it faces Lander University in another East Division showdown at 3:30 p.m.
