Davis and Hooks combine for 34 kills but Saints fall short in regular season finale

ST. AUGUSTINE – Sara Davis and Megan Hooks each recorded 17 kills, but it wasn't enough as Lander University spoiled Flagler College's "Senior Day" with a 3-2 (25-18, 21-25, 25-23, 24-26, 15-11) victory on the final day of the regular season (Nov. 14) at Flagler Gymnasium.

Lander closes out the regular season with a 23-11 overall record and finishes the Peach Belt slate with an 11-7 record. The Bearcats will be the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament which starts on Tuesday. Lander will have to travel to the University of Montevallo in a quarterfinal match. Flagler finishes the regular season with a 20-7 record and a 13-5 mark in conference play. The Saints finish in a tie for second place with Armstrong State University, but due to tiebreakers will be the No. 2 seed and host No. 7 Augusta University on Tuesday (Nov. 17) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.

Before the match, Flagler honored its four seniors: Caitlyn Kovach, Ashley Lechleidner-Rodriguez, Amelia Morgan and Jailene Torres-Lopez.

Jenea Reddick added 13 kills, hit .265 and had two total blocks for the Saints. Tara Savisky tallied 56 assists and just fell short of another double-double as she had nine digs. Kovach collected a match-high 31 digs in her final regular season performance at Flagler Gym.

Julia Ferreira-Alves led the Bearcats with 14 kills, 14 digs and four total blocks. Halle Dotson added 13 kills while Khiani Kelly chipped in with 12 kills and four total blocks. Tarryn Angermeier had an impressive performance with 10 kills and seven total blocks. Mallory Taylor collected a team-high 21 digs and had four service aces. Sophia Perkins notched a double-double with 27 assists and 10 digs.
