Flagler falls to No. 21 Armstrong, 3-0

ST. AUGUSTINE – Sara Davis recorded a team-high nine kills and added three total blocks but it wasn't enough as Flagler College was swept by No. 21 (AVCA Division II Top 25) Armstrong State University 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-20) in a Peach Belt Conference volleyball match Friday night at Flagler Gym.

Armstrong won its seventh consecutive match and improved to 12-1 overall and 7-0 in the Peach Belt. The Pirates also extended their regular season conference win streak to 34 matches. Flagler dropped to 7-9 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Stephanie Sfara recorded a match-high 14 kills, served up three aces and recorded two blocks to lead the Pirates. Rachel Thompson added nine kills and four total blocks while Taylor Permenter tacked on three kills, hit .500 and recorded four total blocks. Kamryn Sherman tallied 34 assists, four kills, four digs and two block assists. She hit .667 on six errorless swings. Morgan Hill paced the defense with 13 digs.

The Pirates hit .269 as a team which included hitting a .355 clip in the second set.

Ashley Cheewah added six kills and four block assists for the Saints. Caitlyn Kovach collected 13 digs while Amelia Morgan tallied 26 assists.

Flagler was limited to a .091 hitting percentage, its lowest percentage since a Sept. 16 match at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (.085).
 
The Saints go back out on the road for a pair of matches on Sunday at Pembroke, North Carolina. Flagler opens with UNC Pembroke at 1 p.m. and then will face Elizabeth City State University at 3:30 p.m.
