Box Score COLUMBUS, Ga. – Richard Brown scored a career-high 31 points on 10 of 15 shooting from the field, but Columbus State University rallied to a 93-74 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Monday afternoon at the Lumpkin Center.

Columbus State won its second game in a row and its third in its last four games to improve to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in the Peach Belt. Flagler suffered its fourth consecutive loss and dropped to 8-8 overall and 2-7 in conference play. The Saints have lost all six of their road games this season.

The Saints held a 41-39 lead at the half and increased the lead to 43-39 after a basket by Keith Matthews to open the second half.

From there, the Cougars would go on a 19-0 run and never trail again. Shane Heyward started the five-minute, 14-second run with a layup with 19:38 left. He was fouled on the play and sank the free throw to complete the old-fashioned three-point play. An R.J. Sessions 3-pointer with 19:11 left gave the Cougars the lead for good, 45-43.

The Saints withstood the run and closed to within four (61-57) after a pair of free throws from Adam Jones. Columbus State answered with a 12-5 run to push its lead back to double-digits.

B.J. Battle led the Cougars with 26 points and eight rebounds. D'Angelo Kirkland added 18 points and eight rebounds while Sessions scored all 11 of his points in the second half. Jahmad Saleem dished out 10 assists.

The Cougars out-rebounded the Saints 48-23 and had 15 offensive boards which led to 17 second chance points. Columbus State also went to the free throw line 39 times and made 31.

Brown made six 3-pointers and made all five free throws to help him score 31. Dennis Diaz added 11 points.

Flagler returns home to open a three-game home stand starting with Lander University on Saturday (Jan. 25) at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
