Box Score ST. AUGUSTINE – Georgia Regents University used a 12-1 run late in the second half and went on to defeat Flagler College 78-68 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.

GRU extended its winning streak to 10 games and improved to 13-2 overall and remained undefeated in the Peach Belt at 6-0. Flagler suffered its second loss in a row and fell to 8-6 overall and 2-5 in conference play.

After a Dennis Diaz 3-pointer cut the Flagler deficit to seven (59-52) with 8:12 left, GRU scored on its next four possessions to ignite the 12-1 run. Keshun Sherrill went coast-to-coast with a layup to complete the run and give the Jaguars its biggest lead, 71-53.

The Saints got the margin trimmed to 10 points (74-64), but couldn't get any closer.

Sherrill finished with a game-high 20 points on 7 of 11 shooting from the field. Devon Wright-Nelson added 15 points while KJ Sherrill contributed 13 points and six rebounds. Ryan Weems tacked on 12 points. D'Angelo Boyce came off the bench to register a game-high nine assists.

The Jaguars out-rebounded the Saints 42-26.

Diaz led the Saints with 17 points as he made all 10 free throws. The Saints made 28 of 30 free throws, including its first 23 in a row. Jerrell Oxendine added 16 points while Lydell Manigo came off the bench with 14 points. Desmond Gibson grabbed six rebounds and blocked three shots. Richard Brown tallied seven assists.

Flagler takes on Georgia Southwestern State University on Saturday (Jan. 18) at 3:30 p.m. at Americus.
