AUGUSTINE – Augusta State University's new deliberate offense spoiled Flagler College's “Senior Day” with a 56-40 triumph in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball regular season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium. Flagler honored its three seniors before the game: Ryan Barnes, Jarrod Branco and Ante Gospic.

With the win, Augusta State improved to 14-12 overall and 9-10 in the Peach Belt. The win clinched the No. 4 seed in the East Division and the Jaguars will take on the No. 1 seed in the West, the University of Montevallo on Friday, Mar. 8 in the quarterfinal round of the PBC Tournament at Columbus, Ga. Flagler's season ends with an 11-15 record and a 7-12 mark in the conference. The seven conference wins are the most by a Flagler team since joining the league in 2009-10.

Ryan Weems scored a game-high 24 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field and 9-13 shooting from the free throw line to lead the Jaguars. Devon Wright-Nelson added 10 points and seven rebounds while D'Angelo Boyce chipped in with 10 points and six assists.

Augusta State out-rebounded Flagler 31-21 and forced 11 turnovers by the Saints. The Jaguars cashed those miscues into 17 points.

Gospic led the Saints with 14 points and nine rebounds. Branco tallied eight points.

Flagler was held to 28.9% (11-38) shooting from the field and made just 23.1% of its shots in the first half. The Saints made just one field goal, in 11 attempts, in the first 18 minutes of the opening half.

Flagler's 40 points were the fewest scored since an 81-46 loss at Rollins College on Dec. 14, 1995.

The Jaguars scored nine of the game's first 10 points and never looked back. They held a 26-14 leads at the half.
