Box Score DAHLONEGA, Ga. – Adam Jones scored a career-high 21 points but it wasn't enough as the University of North Georgia fought off a stubborn Flagler College team 83-80 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Monday night at Memorial Hall.

North Georgia evens its record at 4-4 overall and at 1-1 in the Peach Belt. Flagler suffered its second consecutive loss and fell to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.

With 15 second left, Flagler's Matt Conway sank a 3-pointer to tie the game at 80. However, Chris Tanzy made a layup with nine seconds left and was fouled on the play and sank the free throw to give the Nighthawks a three-point lead. Jones missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer, which would have tied the game.

Ishmael Hollis led the Nighthawks with 23 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Brian Cole came off the bench to add 20 points while Travis Core and Tanzy chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Cole made four 3-pointers.

Jones sank 8 of 10 shots from the field and made four 3-pointers for the Saints. Dennis Diaz and Matt Conway each added 17 points. Conway sank five 3-pointers. Keith Matthews recorded his fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Richard Brown dished out a game-high seven assists.

Despite shooting 38.9% in the first half, Flagler led at the half, 38-37. The Saints forced 12 Nighthawk turnovers and converted those into 21 points.

North Georgia quickly erased the one-point halftime deficit with a 12-1 run to open the second half. The lead swelled to 11 (59-48) after a Cole tip-in with 12:42 left.

Flagler answered with 15-3 run, capped by three made free throws by Diaz. That gave the Saints a 63-62 lead with 7:45 left. Less than a minute later, Conway sank two free throws to give Flagler its last lead, 65-64, with 6:46 remaining.

Flagler hosts Fisher College on Wednesday (Dec. 18) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium in a non-conference game.
