ST. AUGUSTINE –
Matt Clark (St. Augustine, Fla., St. Augustine HS) scored a game-high 22 points and sank six 3-pointers to help lead Flagler College to an 85-66 win over Trinity Baptist College of Jacksonville in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 9-14 on the season while Trinity Baptist dropped to 14-10.
Elijah Hayes (Marietta, Ga., Sprayberry HS) came off the bench to score a season-best 11 points and handed out seven assists.
Chad July (Fort White, Fla., Bridgton (Maine) Academy) recorded his third double-double in as many games with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Ante Gospic (Zadar, Croatia, Polk State College) added nine points and eight rebounds while
Ryan Barnes (Oviedo, Fla., Newberry College) scored all nine of his points in the first half, all on three 3-pointers.
Jordan Warner (Crawfordville, Fla., FAMU HS) tallied eight points and
Addison Smith (West Palm Beach, Fla., College of Central Florida) scored seven points and dished out seven assists.
Flagler shot 50% (33-66) from the field and shot a season-best 51.9% (14-27) from behind the 3-point line.
Xavier Perkins led Trinity Baptist with 19 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Avery Holley tallied 13 points and five assists while Darrin Blye tacked on 11 points and six rebounds. Zach Shank added 10 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots for the Eagles.
After an Amahd Simon layup cut the Flagler lead to 20-18 with 8:34 left in the half, the Saints went on a 26-8 over the next 8:50 to pull away.
Flagler held a 41-26 lead at the half.
The lead would swell to as many as 31 in the second half.
Flagler steps back into Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday at Francis Marion University at 3:30 p.m.
