DeLAND – A 32-9 run by Stetson University early in the second half erased a halftime deficit in a 90-72 win over Flagler College in a men's basketball exhibition game Thursday night at the Edmunds Center.

Chris Perez scored a game-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field and added five steals and four assists for the Division I Hatters. J.R. Weston came off the bench to provide 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field while Tyshawn Patterson added 12 points. Adam Pegg contributed 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.

The Hatters shot a sizzling 71% (22-31) from the field in the second half, including 10-of-12 from 3-point range. Stetson cashed in 19 Flagler turnovers into 28 points.

Chad July (Fort White, Fla., Bridgton (Maine) Academy) led the Saints with 14 points and seven rebounds while Addison Smith (West Palm Beach, Fla., College of Central Florida) tallied 13 points on 6-of-9 shooting and dished out four assists. Ante Gospic (Zadar, Croatia, Polk State College) recorded 10 points. Jordan Warner (Tallahassee, Fla., FAMU HS) came off the bench to score six points and grab six rebounds.

After Stetson opened the game with a dunk and another basket, Flagler reeled off 21 unanswered points over the next 7:14. The Hatters countered with their own 18-4 run to close the gap to three (25-22) after a basket and a pair of free throws by Perez.

But Stetson couldn't overtake Flagler in the first half and trailed 31-26 at the break.

The Saints scored six-of-the-first-eight points of the second half, and that is when the Hatters run started. Perez sank a couple of free throws and then scored on two fastbreak layups and the run was on. Weston capped the run with a 3-pointer with 8:46 left in the half and give Stetson a 60-46 lead.

The gap swelled to 23 (86-63) with 2:05 left in the game after another Weston 3-pointer,

Flagler ends its exhibition slate on Monday (Nov. 7) at NC State at 7 p.m.
