ST. AUGUSTINE – Matt Clark (St. Augustine, Fla., St. Augustine HS) scored a game-high 19 points and made 9-of-10 from the free throw line to help lead Flagler College to a 74-62 win over Lynn University in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.

Flagler improved to 6-1 on the season while Lynn suffered its third consecutive loss and dropped to 2-4.

Ryan Barnes (Oviedo, Fla., Newberry College) added 14 points and six rebounds for the Saints. Jarrod Branco (Hudson, Fla., Hudson HS) chipped in with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists while Chad July (Fort White, Fla., Bridgton (Maine) Academy) tacked on 11 points and five rebounds. Ante Gospic (Zadar, Croatia, Polk State College) corralled a team-high nine rebounds and blocked two shots. Desmond Gibson (Havana, Fla., James S. Rickards HS) tallied eight points coming off the bench.

Flagler made 26-of-36 (72.2%) from the free throw line, including making 13-of-18 from the charity stripe in the last two minutes.

Josh Garcia was the lone Fighting Knight in double figures with 12 points and added four assists. He was a perfect 6-for-6 from the free throw line. Michel Vidal grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds, scored eight points and blocked two shots.

Lynn struggled shooting from the perimeter as it was held to 9.1% (1-11). The Fighting Knights out-scored the Saints 42-26 in the paint.  

Flagler went on a 9-0 run to break open a 57-54 game with 7:12 remaining. All nine points were scored on made free throws. The Saints made 9-of-11 from the line in that stretch. July capped the run by making his first of two shots with 1:20 left in the game to give Flagler a 66-54 lead.

Both teams failed to score a point for a span of 3:53 late in the game. The score was deadlocked 61-54 in favor of the Saints.

Flagler will open Peach Belt Conference play on Saturday (Dec. 3) at Armstrong Atlantic State University at 3:30 p.m.
