ST. AUGUSTINE –
Chad July (Fort White, Fla., Bridgton (Maine) Academy) scored 12 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds to help Flagler College rally past Webber International University 82-68 in a non-conference men's basketball game Monday at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler improved to 1-0 and was its third consecutive season-opening win. Webber International suffered its fourth consecutive loss of the season and dropped to 2-4.
Ante Gospic (Zadar, Croatia, Polk State College) scored 14 points grabbed 18 rebounds while
Jarrod Branco (Hudson, Fla., Hudson HS) scored a game-high 20 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field.
Matt Clark (St. Augustine, Fla., St. Augustine HS) came off the bench to score 16 points and sank three 3-pointers.
Addison Smith dished out a game-high seven assists.

Flagler outrebounded Webber International 57-36, and 41 rebounds were off the defensive glass. The Saints held the Warriors to 30.7% (23-75) shooting from the field, including a 29.5% (13-44) mark in the second half.
The first half was close throughout with nine ties and 10 lead changes. The Warriors had the largest lead of the half (22-16) after a Mesidor 3-pointer, but back-to-back threes by
Ryan Barnes (Oviedo, Fla., Newberry College) and Clark, coupled with July's old-fashioned three-point play wiped out the deficit for the Saints and gave Flagler a 25-22 lead with 7:59 to go in the half.
Flagler went into the locker room ahead 36-35.
A David Swan layup with 15:01 left in the game gave Webber International a 48-42 lead, but a pair of July free throws and back-to-back fastbreak layups by Branco sparked a 21-2 run by Flagler, culminating in a 63-50 lead with 10:25 left.
A Koloamatangi layup with 4:26 left rallied the Warriors back to within two possessions (67-63), but the Saints countered with a 7-0 run over the next 1:52 to put the game away.
Flagler hosts Clearwater Christian College on Friday (Nov. 18) at 7 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
