ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College outscored No. 3 (NABC/Division II) Augusta State University 10-4 in overtime in a 76-70 victory in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at Flagler Gym.

Flagler improved to 8-3 overall and 2-1 in the Peach Belt. Augusta State suffered its first loss of the season and dropped to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The loss also snapped the Jaguars' 13-game winning streak in the Peach Belt, during the regular season. ASU's last loss was at USC Aiken, Jan. 25, 2010.

Kenny Moore (Vero Beach, Fla., Vero Beach HS) recorded his team-leading sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. He also recorded three blocked shots. Chad July (Fort White, Fla., Bridgton (Maine) Academy) recorded a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. D.J. Ferguson (Orlando, Fla., Bishop Moore Catholic HS) broke his own school record after dishing out 17 assists. He tallied 16 vs. Allen University (Jan. 15, 2008). Ferguson added 11 points to his line. Eddie Fowler (Deltona, Fla., Pasco-Hernando CC) chipped in with 16 points and John Pietkiewicz (Winter Park, Fla., New Hampton Prep (N.H.)) tallied 15 points.

Flagler outscored Augusta State 42-22 in the paint and grabbed seven offensive rebounds which led to 13 second chance points. The Saints shot 60.9% (14-23) in the second half to rally from a 40-30 halftime deficit.

Franck Ndongo scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Augusta State. George Johnson and Travis Keels each provided 12 points off the bench and Caleb Brown shipped in with 10 points. O'Neal Armstrong dished out 10 assists.

The Jaguars shot just 35.7% (10-28) from the floor in the second half and were held to 14.3% (1-7) in overtime.

Augusta State wiped out a 12-10 Flagler lead with a 19-7 run to take its largest lead of the game 29-19. The spread would remain 10 (40-30) going into the half.

Flagler used a 13-4 run early in the second half to close to one, 46-45, after a Fowler fastbreak layup. The Jaguars answered with a 10-3 run, but the Saints would tie the score at 56-all on a fastbreak jumper by Fowler with 6:13 remaining.

A Ndongo dunk with 27 seconds left gave Augusta State a 66-64 lead, but Ferguson drove the lane and tied the score at 66 with 21 seconds left. Tye Beal tried a layup with two seconds left, but Moore blocked the shot and the game went into overtime.

Flagler took the lead for good when July got fouled after grabbing an offensive rebound. He sank both free throws and then Moore added a layup a short time later to give the Saints a 70-66 lead. Flagler made 6-of-its-9 shots from the free throw line in overtime.

Flagler travels to Greenwood, S.C. on Saturday (Jan. 8) to take on Lander University at 3:30 p.m.
