THOMASVILLE, Ga. − Redshirt freshman forward
Mack Hough (St. Augustine, Fla./Pedro Menendez HS) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner, to help lead Flagler College to a 3-1 win over Thomas University in a non-conference men's soccer match Friday afternoon at the Wendy's Soccer Complex. Flagler picks up its first win of the season, evening its record at 1-1 and snapping a seven-match winless streak (last win: 10/14/07 vs. Saint Xavier, 2-1). Thomas fell to 0-2-1.
Hough scored his and the team's first goal of the season when he headed in
Ryan Endrizzi's (Apopka, Fla./Bishop Moore HS) pass to knot the game 1-1 in the 43rd minute. He then scored the eventual game-winning goal as he booted in a pass from
Conor Killeen (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) in the 70th minute.
Killeen would cap off the scoring with an insurance goal when he headed in a volley from
Will Frandsen (Orange Park, Fla./Orange Park HS) in the 80th minute.
Freshman goalkeeper
Chandler Gay (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) notched his first collegiate victory in just his second match. He tallied three saves on the afternoon.
Flagler seized control of the game midway through the first half and dominated the offensive end for the match, out-shooting Thomas 30-11 and holding a 10-2 edge in corner kicks.
Alex Fleming got the Night Hawks on the board when he lifted a ball over Gay's head from 18 yards out just seven minutes into the contest.
Flagler heads north to take on Georgia Southwestern University tomorrow (Sept. 6) at 2 p.m. in Americus, Ga.
