ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − The Flagler College men's soccer team tied with Saint Leo University 2-2 in a double overtime home match Tuesday night. Both teams, ranked seventh and eighth in the South Region poll respectively, now have a record of 4-2-1 for the season.
Flagler's first goal was a shot 15 yards from the top right corner of the box made by Fredrik Ericsson (Uppsala, Sweden/Linneskolan), coming off a Pol Berenguer (Barcelona, Spain/St. Augustine HS) pass. The Saints' final goal of the game was made by the same duo in the second half to lead 2-1. Keeper Chandler Gay (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) notched four saves for the match.
Eusebio Montoya recorded Saint Leo's two goals, the second being a direct kick with ten minutes remaining to tie the game. Goalkeeper Griffin Pharr tallied five total saves. The Lions out shot the Saints 20-13.
The soccer team travels to Lynn on Saturday (Sept. 27). Flagler's next home game is slated for Oct. 4 against Webber International.
