ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − The Flagler College men's soccer team came out victorious against ninth-ranked Nova Southeastern University 4-0 in a home match Sunday afternoon. The Saints now move to a 4-1-0 season mark while Nova drops to 4-1-1.
Eoin Cassin (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) scored Flagler's first goal ten minutes into the first half on a direct kick. Kevin Partel (St. Augustine, Fla./St. Joseph's Academy) increased the score 2-0 with an unassisted goal with two minutes remaining. The Saints opened the second half scoreless, but Conor Killeen (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) assisted Cassin 20 minutes in for the third goal of the afternoon. Flagler's fourth and final goal came from Brad Vinciguerra (Syracuse, N.Y./Onondada CC) with an assist from Arnel Selman (Jacksonville, Fla./Woolfson HS).
Goalkeeper Chandler Gay (Oviedo, Fla./Oviedo HS) tallied five saves for the match. The Saints ended up out shooting the Sharks 20-10.
The Sharks played a man down with 35 minutes remaining in the game when Aly Hassan earned a red card. Total fouls equaled up to 19 for Nova and 24 for Flagler.
The men next play at North Florida on Saturday (Sept. 20). Flagler returns to Saints Field to host Saint Leo Sept. 23.
