ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Former Flagler College shortstop Chris Barnwell was selected to the Class AAA All-Star Game today and will play for the Pacific Coast League All-Stars. The game will be played on Wednesday (July 16) at 7 p.m. at the Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, Ky. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN2.

Barnwell is currently batting .276 with 20 doubles, six home runs and 42 runs batted in going in to today's game against the Iowa Cubs. He has gone 5-for-13 in three previous games against the Cubs.

The Isotopes are in last place in the four-team American Southern Division of the PCL with a 41-56 record.

Barnwell was a 25th round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2001 Major League Baseball Draft. He signed a Minor League contract with the Florida Marlins on Jan. 4, 2008.

Barnwell replaces Oklahoma Red Hawk shortstop Joaquin Arias on the roster. He joins fellow Isotope teammates Chris Seddon (pitcher) and John Gall (outfielder) on the PCL All-Star roster. A pair of other Isotope teammates, John Baker and Dallas McPherson, was selected but is unable to attend for various reasons.

Barnwell is one of three former Flagler baseball players playing in the Minors. Wade Lamont is with the Oneonta Tigers in the New York-Penn League and Brandon Rapoza is with the Arizona League Brewers.
