ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – Northern Illinois University came in and defeated Flagler College 7-2 in a non-conference men's tennis match Wednesday afternoon at the Flagler Tennis Center. Northern Illinois, a member of NCAA Division I, improved to 6-3 while Flagler fell to 5-6.

The Huskies took two of the three doubles flights to take a 2-1 lead in the match. Jimmy Chu and Alex Friessen defeated Kyle Maloof and Aaron Haines 8-6 at No. 2 doubles while Matt Hansen and Diego Zegarra-Ballon edged Stephen Coulis and Jeremy Lamande 8-6 at No. 3 doubles. David Cotrone and Harry Snoxell teamed to beat Adam Ford and Brian Livingston 8-6 for the lone doubles point for the Saints.

NIU won singles matches Nos. 1-4 and No. 6. Livingston won a three-set match against Cotrone at No. 1 singles 6-4, 4-6, 6-3. Ford battled Lamande at No. 3 singles winning 6-2, 3-6, 6-3.

Maloof earned his win at No. 5 singles by defeating Hansen 6-0, 6-7, 13-11.

Flagler hosts Adelphi University tomorrow (Mar. 13) at 2:30 p.m.
