MOUNT VERNON, Ga. − A 21-3 run early in the second half provided enough of a buffer as Brewton-Parker College defeated Flagler College 67-58 in a non-conference women’s basketball game Tuesday night at the Gillis Gymnasium.

Karlyn Reddish’s (Keystone Heights, Fla./Keystone Heights HS) layup off a Christy Forsyth (Tallahassee, Fla./Amos P. Godby HS) pass with 15:14 to go in the game drew Flagler (7-9) to a single point, 33-32.

Following that basket, Brewton-Parker (15-3), an NAIA Division I school, would break the game open on a 21-3 run covering the next 4:47. Candice Clark scored eight points in the run, including sinking a pair of three-pointers while Monique Martin tallied nine points including converting two fastbreak layups.

The Lady Barons made 9-of-13 shots from the field during the run and the defense forced six turnovers and held the Saints to 1-of-4 shooting.

Flagler did make a late run, closing the game on a 16-2 run.

Martin, NAIA Division I’s leading scorer (31.6 ppg), scored a game-high 27 points on 11-of-31 shooting from the field. She struggled in the opening half scoring only seven points and made 2-of-16 shots from the field. Candice Clark added 14 points and eight rebounds for the Lady Barons while Shelby Pauling chipped in with 13 points, six assists and five rebounds.

Jamie Allenbaugh (Pittsburgh, Pa./West Virginia Wesleyan) scored a team-high 24 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Saints. Kortne Jackson (Ashburn, Va./Broad Run HS) recorded a pair of season-highs with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Flagler travels to Sumter, S.C. on Saturday to face Morris College in a 2 p.m. tip-off.
