ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Ivan Arias’ goal in the 31st minute is all that Webber International University would need in a 3-0 win over Flagler College in a non-conference men’s soccer match Wednesday night at Saints Field.

Arias picked up a loose ball off a rebound and a deflection and flicked the ball in to give the Warriors an early 1-0 lead just after a downpour had slowed offensive play for much of the first half.

Webber International’s (5-1-0) Alex Sesto scored the goal of the match when he took Erlingur Guadmundson’s pass and dribbled in on the keeper and booted the ball into the upper right corner from 15 yards out in the 61st minute. There was a lot of confusion on the play where the most of the players had stopped after an alleged foul was called, but there was no such call and Guadmundson found Sesto for the goal.

Jon Hermannsson scored the match’s final goal when he headed in David Wahlberg’s corner in the 71st minute.

Manuel Celleri collected two saves for the Warriors who extend their win streak to five. Last Saturday they knocked off then-No. 1 (NAIA) Embry-Riddle, 3-2, in Daytona Beach. The Warriors were just two points shy of the Top 25 released this afternoon.

Luke Sturgis (St. Augustine, Fla./Allen D. Nease HS) booted three shots, one on goal for Flagler (6-3-0). Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) tallied six saves for the Saints. The loss snaps a five-match home winning streak for Flagler. The Saints out-scored their opponents 14-0 in their first four home matches this season.

Flagler takes on No. 6 Embry-Riddle this Saturday at 7 p.m. in Daytona Beach. The match will be the Eagles’ first since dropping from the No. 1 spot in the poll. Webber International returns to conference action on Saturday at home against Northwood.
