ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Sean Gormley (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee HS) and A.J. Martin (Solihull, England/Lyndon School) each scored a pair of goals to power Flagler College past Brewton-Parker College 8-0 in a non-conference men’s soccer match at Saint Field Saturday night.

Gormley scored the match’s first goal in the 12th minute when he took David Iafrate’s (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) pass and broke free down the left sideline and beat the keeper with a blast to the right. He notched his second goal of the evening in the 37th minute when he beat the keeper with a shot at his (the keeper’s) feet.

Sandwiched around Gormley’s blasts was Andres Jaramillo (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) who found the back of the net after an off-balanced left-footed shot from the left corner of the penalty box in the 35th minute.

Flagler (1-1-0) held a 16-2 shot advantage in the first half and took a 3-0 lead into the half.

Martin scored on a pair of penalty kicks, one in the 47th minute and the other in the 86th minute.

Jaramillo, Iafrate and Jorgen Rosten (Tynset, Norway/Nord-Osterdal Viderregaende) each tallied a goal and an assist. Danny Burke (Leeds, England/Thomas Danby College) scored his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute when he chipped a ball over the keeper’s head.

Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) saved a shot in earning his first shutout of the season.

Nick Rodriguez tallied seven saves and allowed six goals for Brewton-Parker (0-3). Michael Gibbs came on late in the match and yielded a pair of goals.

Flagler travels to DeLand to take on Stetson Sept 6 in a 7 p.m. match.
