ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Fredrik Ericsson’s (Uppsala, Sweden/Linneskolan) one touch shot in the 5th minute was all Flagler College needed in a 3-0 win over Jacksonville University Sunday night at Saints Field. The win marked the second of the season against an NCAA Division foe this season for the transitioning (NCAA Division II) Saints. Flagler also extended its winning streak to four matches.

Ericsson received a cross from the left from Gerson Penza (Willemstad, Curacao/St. Gregory’s U.) and he tapped in the shot for Flagler (4-1-0).

In the 29th minute, Boris Kalff (Cologne, Germany/Sports University of Cologne) took Eoin Cassin’s (Dublin, Ireland/Colaiste Ide) chip just over midfield and broke in and beat the JU keeper to his right to put the Saints ahead, 2-0.

In the 61st minute, David Iafrate (Gainesville, Fla./Buchholz HS) scored his fifth goal of the season with a header in the midst of pile up in front of the goal.

Flagler’s Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) recorded his second shutout of the season and collected eight saves.

The rain fell early and the second half and maintained throughout the entire half. Also, in the second half, the physical play carried over to a couple of minor skirmishes between the two clubs.

Jacksonville out-shot Flagler 16-8 and also held an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Tommy Krizanovic led Jacksonville (2-4-0) with three shots on goal. Krizanovic and Anton Axelsson are two of the nation’s leading scorers in Division I, but both were held in check by the Flagler defenders. Chad Comroe tallied two saves for the Dolphins.

Flagler returns to action on Sept. 16 at Nova Southeastern University in Davie. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. Jacksonville is back on the pitch on Sept. 15 at Winthrop University for a 7:30 p.m. match.
