ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Peter Masters' goal in the 44th minute proved to be the game winner as 20th-ranked (NAIA) Embry-Riddle downed Flagler College 2-1 in a non-conference men’s soccer match Friday night at Saints Field. The two rivals split their matches with each team winning on the other’s field.
Masters scored his goal off a pass across the penalty box from Phil Middleton who was dribbling in from the right side to give Embry-Riddle (10-6-0) the 2-0 lead.
Joe Yoffe opened the scoring in the 29th minute when he scored off a Ian Thompson pass and Hugh Davey was also credited with an assist.
Boris Kalff (Cologne, Germany/Sports University of Cologne) got Flagler (9-7-0) on the board in the 75th minute when he put in Fredrik Ericsson’s (Uppsala, Sweden/Linneskolan) pass for his fifth goal of the season.
Viktor Bergstrand tallied two saves for the Eagles while Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) tallied three saves for the Saints.
Embry-Riddle out-shot Flagler 7-4 and both teams took four corner kicks.
