ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Danny Burke (Leeds, England/Thomas Danby College) tipped in Boris Kalff’s (Cologne, Germany/Sports University of Cologne) free kick in the 73rd minute to lead Flagler College to a 2-1 win over Saint Xavier University of Chicago in a non-conference men’s soccer match Sunday afternoon at Saints Field.

Burke, situated in a mass of players in front of the Saint Xavier goal, re-directed the ball into the goal on Kalff’s free kick. The goal put Flagler (8-5-0) ahead 2-0 and gave them some added breathing room.

Sean Gormley (Marlton, N.J./Cherokee HS) scored his fifth goal of the season when he booted a ball into the net off an Andres Jaramillo (Orlando, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) pass in the 22nd minute for the Saints.

Jordan Holtz (Clermont, Fla./South Lake HS) recorded two saves in the first half and his brother, Josiah, saved one shot in the second half.

Saint Xavier(5-9-0) was able to pull within a goal after Alex Duncan knocked in a rebound from Agustin Herrera’s shot went off the right post and to and awaiting Duncan.

James Kline recorded eight saves for the Cougars.

Flagler out-shot Saint Xavier 17-6 and held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Flagler hosts Rollins College at 7 p.m. Wednesday night at Saints Field.
