AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Jessica Garcia’s second goal of the season in the 36th minute helped lead Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University rally past 18th-ranked Flagler College 4-1 in a Florida Sun Conference women’s soccer match Tuesday night at Saints Field. The last time Flagler lost at home was Oct. 12, 2004, against Embry-Riddle, 4-1.
Garcia received a pass from Amanda Daku about 10 yards in front of Flagler’s goal and she booted the ball past Lady Saints goalkeeper Kate Carver (Margate, Fla./Nova HS) dead center.
Embry-Riddle (4-5-0, 1-1 Florida Sun) fell behind early when Flagler’s (7-3-0, 1-2) Caitlin Eggimann (Gulf Breeze, Fla./Gulf Breeze HS) found the bottom right-corner of the goal open for her third goal of the season, just eight minutes into the contest.
Sarah Valentine scored the equalizer as she converted a penalty kick in the 19th minute after being dragged down in the goal box.
Britney Commander and Katrina Morgan added insurance goals in the second half for the Eagles.
Flagler out-shot Embry-Riddle 23-12 and also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Stephanie Taylor registered nine saves in net for Embry-Riddle. Carver tallied two saves for the Lady Saints.
Flagler will host Northwood University Friday at 7 p.m. at Saints Field.
