Coach’s Comment: "In the April 7th National Top Twenty-five Ranking, Flagler was unranked. But because of our strong play at Regionals, we had jumped to number 15 in the final Men’s ranking of the year. After missing the cut in 2004 at the very same course, our immediate thoughts were to make the cut to the top 17 in 2005. A 292 in the opening round placed us fourth, and our expectations changed quickly. In the second round, Flagler was 3 over through 12 holes, but we shot 18 over in the last six holes to finish Day Two with a disappointing score of 309 and a drop in the standings to 10th. The team bounced back and shot solid 300s for the third and fourth rounds to finish ninth overall, which ties our best finish ever at Nationals (Palm Coast, 2003). This team’s late rise from not being ranked two months before the National tournament to then finishing ninth is a great comeback story: I’m proud of how hard this team worked since September, and it really paid off in the end. The same team (no one graduates) will be back to compete for the 2006 season."
