Having the Heart of a Lion is…
…screaming at the top of your lungs after a basket, spike, goal, or run.
…cheering when towel boy runs onto the basketball court.
…wearing crimson and gold to every game.
…giving back to the community.
…is ALL ABOUT cheering with respect and in good sportsmanship.
Having the Heart of a Lion is NOT…
…cheering against the referees or opposing team.
…using profanity or derogatory language.
…addressing anyone negatively or aggressively.
…behaving in a manner that is disruptive to those around you or the game.
…personal attacks of any kind (race, sex, religion, etc.).
…creating an atmosphere that is unenjoyable or distasteful.
The Heart of a Lion Campaign reminds you to show good heart this year and at all Flagler athletic events. Flagler will take proper action on any inappropriate behavior. We ask you to help spread this into other “hearts” throughout all Flagler games and if anyone around you during a game is not showing a Heart of a Lion, please feel free to contact a Flagler Athletics Staff Member.

Starting this semester at Flagler College, the Athletic Department will be taking on a new sportsmanship campaign. This campaign is called the Heart of a Lion Campaign. We have adopted this idea from Loyola Marymount University after witnessing the campaign’s positive effects on LMU’s sports teams and campus alike. The Athletic Department and Sport Management Club will be taking on this campaign with high hopes for this semester and the future.
We hope to spread sportsmanship not only throughout our campus, but our community as well. T-shirts will be sold at games and around our campus to help spread the word of this campaign. These shirts say “I have the heart of a lion” on the back and have the new and improved Flagler shield logo on the front. The Sport Management Club will also be holding fundraisers at select athletic events during the year. All proceeds will go to the Make a Wish Foundation. Flagler athletic fans will also notice signs at all of our athletic fields that will state the basis to what the Heart of a Lion Campaign is all about.
We hope that you will be just as excited as we are about the commencement of this new era for Flagler Athletics.
