ST. AUGUSTINE – The consecutive RBI hits, including a two-run double by Josh Huggins, in the fifth inning led to five runs and would be all top-ranked University of West Florida would need in a 7-3 win over Flagler College in a non-conference baseball game Sunday afternoon at Drysdale Field.

West Florida won two of the three games in the season opening series. Flagler fell to 1-2.

Taye Larry led off the third by drawing a five-pitch walk off Flagler starter Garrett Bush (Jacksonville, Fla., Seminole State College ) (0-1). He stole second and then took third base on a wild pitch. Bush hit the next two batters to load the bases, and he was pulled in favor of reliever Tyler Ward. Billy O'Connor flied out to left to score Larry. Huggins followed with a two-run double down the left field line. Dustin Saulmon doubled to center to plate Huggins. J.R. Pryor kept the rally going with a single through the right side to score Saulmon.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a triple, a run scored, and he knocked in a run for the Argonauts. Huggins singled, doubled, scored a run and collected two RBI. Max St. Hilaire doubled for West Florida.

Brian Ellington (1-0) picked up the win in relief after tossing three scoreless innings and allowing just four hits. He struck out seven batters.

The Saints pounded out 14 hits on the day, but wound up stranding 18 runners on base.

Nate Fudala (Cincinnati, Ohio, Turpin HS) collected three singles and drove in a run. Charlie Stewart (Port St. Lucie, Fla., Lincoln Park Academy) went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored while Devon Hellett (Ponte Vedra Beach,Fla., Gulf Coast CC) singled twice, scored a run and drove in another. John Sgromolo (Fleming Island, Fla., Clay HS) also singled twice.

Bush last two-plus innings in his debut for Flagler. He only allowed two hits, but surrendered three runs and threw two wild pitches. Danny Brown (Fort Myers, Fla., Community School of Naples) was effective in relief tossing three scoreless innings and did not allow a hit while walking one and striking out four.

Flagler hosts USC Beaufort on Wednesday (Feb. 8) at 4 p.m. at Drysdale Field.
