SAINT LEO – The No. 22 (Golf World/NGCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's golf team is in ninth place after the first round of the Saint Leo Invitational Monday afternoon at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club (par: 72; yards: 6063). The tournament concludes tomorrow, weather permitting.
Flagler shot a 38-over par 326 as a team. Leading the 16-team pack is the host school, No. 9 Saint Leo University with a 14-over 302. They hold a slim one-shot lead over top-ranked Florida Southern College (+15, 303). No. 18 Northeastern State University is in third place with a 22-over 310.
Meghan Moore of UNC Pembroke leads the 90-woman field with a 1-under 71. She holds a two-stroke lead over Heather Petronis of Saint Leo who finished with a 1-over 73.
Nicole Keyser (Cary, N.C., Green Hope HS) leads the Flagler contingent with a 6-over 78 and is in a tie for 15th place. She carded an even par 36 on the back nine.
Marie Santacroce (Mattituck, N.Y., Mattituck HS) is in a tie for 35th place with a 9-over 81.
Leslie Choucard (Chessy, France, Mercer University) is tied for 38th place with a 10-over 82.
Elin Karlsson (Vanersborg, Sweden, Vaxjo Fria Gymnasium) carded a 13-over 85 and is in a tie for 55th place.
Marissa Marinan (Niceville, Fla, Niceville HS) is in 58th place with a 14-over 86.
Lauren Benetti, playing as an individual, is tied for 15th place with a 6-over 78.
