ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. − Freshman guard
Jen Mitchell (Fort Myers, Fla./Cypress Creek HS) was selected to the 2008-09 Independent Collegiate Athletic Association Women's Basketball Second Team in release Thursday afternoon. Mitchell was also selected to the All-Freshman Team.
The ICAA, in basketball, consists of Central State University, Columbia Union College, the University of the District of Columbia, Flagler College, Lake Erie College, North Greenville University, Oakland City University, Palm Beach Atlantic University and Urbana University. The team was selected by ICAA Director Mike Bond.
Mitchell, a 5-foot-7 guard, was second in scoring for the Saints with an average of 9.9 points per game. She averaged a team-high 3.1 assists per game and made a team-best 35 three-pointers. Mitchell was one of only four players to play in every game (29) and started the most games (27).
Earning Player of the Year honors was Lillian McGill of UDC. Her coach, Lester Butler, was named ICAA Coach of the Year. The Freshman of the Year went to Lake Erie's Stephanie Rogers.

Jen Mitchell, Flagler.
Third-Team All-ICAA: Natasha Galloway and Ijeoma Ofomata, Central State; Jalyssa Jackson and Tia Simms, Urbana; and, Deyshia Williams, UDC.
All-Freshman Team: Haley Ducey, Urbana;
Jen Mitchell, Flagler; Lynsey Poole, Palm Beach Atlantic; Stephanie Rogers, Lake Erie; and, Karly Stache, North Greenville.
Flagler finished last season with a 5-24 record and joins the Peach Belt Conference for the 2009-10 season.
