KANSAS CITY, Kan. − Flagler College head men's soccer coach
John Lynch as been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Mondo Division II Southeast Region Coach of the Year, released Monday (Dec. 14).
Lynch will now be eligible for the National Coach of the Year which will be announced at the NSCAA National Convention held Jan. 13-17 in Philadelphia.
Based in Kansas City, Kan., the NSCAA is the largest coaches' organization in the United States. Since its founding in 1941, it has grown to include more than 30,000 members who coach both genders at all levels of the sport. In addition to a national rankings program for colleges and high schools, NSCAA offers an extensive recognition program that presents nearly 10,000 individual awards every year. It fulfills its mission of coaching education through a nationwide program of clinics and week-long courses, teaching more than 4,000 soccer coaches each year.
Lynch guided the Saints to a 14-6-2 overall record and a 7-1-0 record in the Peach Belt Conference. Flagler won the conference regular season title in its inaugural season and advanced to the NCAA Division II Southeast Region in just its second year of full membership in the NCAA. Lynch was also named 2009 Peach Belt Conference Men's Soccer Coach of the Year and four of his players earned all-conference honors and another was selected as the PBC Freshman of the Year.
Lynch completed his 11th season as head coach at Flagler and won his 100th match at the St. Augustine-based school on Oct. 24 at North Georgia College & State University. His career record stands at 104-93-14 (.526). In 2002, Lynch coached the Saints to the Florida Sun Conference and NAIA Region XIV titles and an appearance in the NAIA National Tournament.
